The Glacial Lakes region of northeast South Dakota offers some of the finest outdoor opportunities in the country.

This combined with our hunting knowledge and customer service will result in the hunt of a lifetime!

Dakota Outdoorsman also provides guided fishing expeditions, as well as Duck, Dove, and Goose hunting. Sportsmen are able to hunt designated areas with their own hunting dogs or we can provide complete guide service.

Several years of above average rainfall have filled area lakes and potholes with water creating excellent fishing. The Dakota prairie pothole region is one of the most important breeding areas for waterfowl in North America. Several mild winters have allowed the area pheasant population to grow, offering some of the best hunting in South Dakota.

 

Pheasant Hunting

Pheasants are the state bird of South Dakota for good reason. The private land we hunt provides excellent cover and hunting opportunities for the wily Ringneck.

Dakota Outdoorsman tailors each hunt specific to each client. We are able to accommodate the weekend family hunt as well as large corporate outings. Sportsmen are able to hunt designated areas with their own hunting dogs or we can provide complete guide service.

The birds fly fast and seem to burst from the cover, so be prepared for upland hunting at its finest! With over 100 years of combined hunting experience our guides have the ability and desire to make each hunt a successful one! Waterfowl Hunting

The prairie pothole region of the Dakotas is an important breeding area for the Central Flyway. In addition the Glacial Lakes region of northeast South Dakota provides staging areas for thousands of northern birds on their fall migration.

Dakota Outdoorsman provides all of the expertise and equipment to make your waterfowl hunt successful. We scout out several areas daily to provide the best opportunity for harvesting birds. Our experienced guides will set up all decoys and equipment and call the birds in close. The shooting is up to you!

We offer field and water hunts depending upon species, number of hunters in a party, timing, and availability of birds.

Our season begins in early September for the resident South Dakota Goose HuntingGiant Canada Goose Season. This season allows increased bag limits and increased non-resident licenses for the plentiful Giant Canadians.

In late September our regular waterfowl season starts. Resident dabbling ducks such as mallards, pintails, teal, and gadwalls join the Canada Geese in a mixed bag. Migrations of diving ducks such as bluebills, redheads, ringbills, goldeneyes, canvasbacks, and buffle heads congregate on lakes in the region.

Later in the season northern mallards, snow geese, and tundra swans stage in the area. Non-residents must apply early for a limited number of licenses. You may apply online at the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks web site.

 

Price List

Day Hunts start at $150 per hunter per day. We can tailor a hunt to your situation. We can handle groups of 50 to single hunters. Bring your own dog or fully guided hunts. Corporate Hunts to family outings. Young or "more seasoned" hunters welcomed and accommodated for. Give us a call or email and we will tailor a package for you.

Prices include Guided Pheasant Hunts, Guided Duck and Goose Hunts, Dove Hunts or any Combination Hunt. Limits for waterfowl and doves are based on current SD Law. Pheasant Hunts are based on 3 bird limit per day. 5% SD sales tax added to all packages. Guide gratuity not included (but definetly appreciated).

 

Other Opportunities

In addition to the outstanding hunting, the Glacial Lakes region of South Dakota offers world-class fishing. Anglers will find excellent walleye, northern pike, and perch fishing the entire year.

We will be glad to give you the latest fishing report during your stay. The region also offers casinos, the Terry Redlin museum, and other services near Watertown, SD. Aberdeen, SD is also located nearby and offers a full range of lodging, dining, and entertainment options.
